I recently purchased an R512 (Order #1091) and recently purchased a Safari Rack. Before attempting the installation, I inspected the upper suspension bolts to determine the correct hex key size. While inspecting them, I noticed all four suspension bolts have noticeable scuff marks. I also noticed one of the upper bolts does not appear to have a usable hex socket at all, and the other upper bolt appears almost stripped. Because of what I found, I decided not to attempt the installation since I didn’t want to risk causing any damage.

My main concern is the long-term serviceability and safety of the suspension bolts. If they ever loosen over time, I’m concerned I may not be able to properly tighten or service them. I’m also concerned that attempting to remove the bolts in their current condition could make them more difficult to remove or potentially cause additional damage during the removal process. I have attached photos showing the condition of the bolts for reference.

While I would like to install the Safari Rack and start using it, I would first like to make sure this issue is addressed.

I would appreciate having the suspension bolts replaced under warranty through my local authorized dealer. Since the issue was present before I attempted the Safari Rack installation, I don’t feel it would be fair for either myself or my local authorized dealer to incur the cost of the repair.
