The bikes are pre-programmed in Class-2 mode by default, enabling both throttle operation and pedal-assist riding at speeds up to 20mph. By switching between different ride modes, you can access Class-1, Class-3, and race modes. This allows the Ristretto® 512 to be legally ridden on most bike paths and trails without a license, insurance, or registration. When in doubt, consult with your local transportation office.
