512 App and DS103 Display Error Codes

LIST OF ERROR CODES ON APP AND DS103 DISPLAY

* Warranty condition: If the motor in question is still within its warranty period and there is no indication that the motor has been altered physically (such as cutting wires), then the components needed will be replaced under warranty.
*Wiring or connection damage as a result of bent pins or damaged connectors will NOT be warranted.

ERROR DESCRIPTION

COMMON
SYMPTOMS

COMMON SOLUTION

Controller Over Voltage

The battery voltage is over the system threshold.

The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Adjust the battery settings in the Ride Control app or in the display settings menu.

Controller Under Voltage The battery voltage is under the system threshold.  The motor will not run while the error is shown. Adjust the battery settings in the Ride Control app or in the display settings menu.
Controller Over Temperature

The controller temperature reading is over the threshold. This can be caused by the controller overheating due to overload/complex terrain or the temperature sensor is malfunctioning.

The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Allow some time for the controller to cool down. If the temperature reading does not drop down, contact Ristretto for assistance.

Hall Sensor Error

The motor’s hall sensor is malfunctioning. This can be caused by various reasons:

  • The motor hall sensor failure
  • The motor hall sensor is disconnected
  • Another sensor is causing the error

The motor will switch to sensor-less mode automatically. The motor will continue to run in this condition.

Troubleshoot the other sensors especially if there is another error or other symptoms present, contact Ristretto for assistance.

Throttle Error

Your display is showing error 28 or when you press down the throttle, there is no power output from the motor but you still have power output when pedalling.

  • Your throttle is turned off in the Ride Control app
  • Your throttle is not plugged in properly
  • The throttle has failed
  • The wiring harness is damaged
  • The controller has failed

1. Replace the wiring harness

2. Replace the throttle

3. Replace the controller

*Note that damaged connectors, wires, or bent pins will not be covered by warranty

Speed Sensor Error

The speed sensor is not detected by the controller. This can be caused by various reasons:

  • The BLE speed sensor is not plugged in
  • The BLE speed sensor has failed
  • The controller connection to the BLE speed sensor has been disrupted

You will not have any speed reading on the app or the display while riding. The motor will continue to run while the error is shown.

Ensure the speed sensor is properly connected. If the speed sensor is properly connected and the error persists, contact Ristretto for assistance.

Controller Internal Error 1

The controller is over the absolute maximum current threshold. It can be caused by incorrect motor tuning, a failed motor, or controller

The motor will stutter while the error is shown. The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Reflash the firmware via the Ristretto app or via PC. If the firmware reflash does not correct the issue, replace the controller or contact Ristretto for assistance.

Controller Internal Error 2

The controller is booting from watchdog reset.

The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Attempt to reflash the firmware. If the firmware reflash does not work, and unless there are other symptoms not mentioned above, replace the controller component directly or contact Ristretto for assistance.

Controller Internal Error 3

Controller flash corruption.

The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Attempt to reflash the firmware. If the firmware reflash does not work, and unless there are other symptoms not mentioned above, replace the controller component directly or contact Ristretto for assistance.

Controller Internal Error 4

Controller current sensor 1 high offset.

The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Unless there are other symptoms not mentioned above, replace the controller component directly or contact Ristretto for assistance.

Controller Internal Error 5

Controller current sensor 2 high offset.

The motor will not run while the error is shown. Unless there are other symptoms not mentioned above, replace the controller component directly or contact Ristretto for assistance.
Controller Internal Error 6 Controller current sensor 3 high offset. The motor will not run while the error is shown. Unless there are other symptoms not mentioned above, replace the controller component directly or contact Ristretto for assistance.
Controller Internal Error 7

Controller unbalanced currents.

The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Unless there are other symptoms not mentioned above, replace the controller component directly or contact Ristretto for assistance.

Controller Internal Error 8 Controller appconf flash corruption.

The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Attempt to reflash the firmware. If the firmware reflash does not work, and unless there are other symptoms not mentioned above, replace the controller component directly
or contact Ristretto for assistance.

Controller Internal Error 9

Controller mcconf flash corruption.

The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Attempt to reflash the firmware. If the firmware reflash does not work, and unless there are other symptoms not mentioned above, replace the controller component directly
or contact Ristretto for assistance.

Controller Internal Error 10

Controller’s internal MCU is under voltage.

The motor will not run while the error is shown.

Unless there are other symptoms not mentioned above, replace the controller component directly.
